Who I Am and What My Goals Are
My name is Makell Duncan. I am a College of Southern Nevada student who is pursuing a degree in Associate of Science to become a radiologic technologist. I look forward to being in this IS101 class because it will give me higher skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This will help me stand out when I apply to become a radiologic technologist and be more creative in these applications in general. What got me into being a radiologic technologist is that I am familiar with how to use Microsoft applications like Word. I think that by taking IS101, I will be able to have better skills in recording information about the health of a patient while I work as a radiologic technologist.
What I Learned About Using Outlook
I didn’t know much about the different layouts in Outlook until I watched the CompTIA chapter, Section 1.3.8 - Checking Your Email. I now understand that there are four different sections in Outlook, “Mail View”, “Calendar View”, “People View”, and “Task View.” Calendar and Task View will allow me to record tasks online while People View can help me access the email of the recipient that I want to send a message to. Another feature that I like is that you can “flag” a message. This feature will remind me that I have a task related to the email that is important.
My Hobbies
Some of the activities that I enjoy doing are working out and drawing. Whenever I work out, I usually do strength training workouts because they allow me to become stronger, so I feel more energized for future chores. I work out at home instead of going to the gym because I don’t always have the chance to go to the gym. During times when I am not physically active, I draw natural landscapes and animals. I have recently started drawing liminal spaces after being inspired by the mystery of those that I have seen on Google.
I'm excited to see you already drawing a direction connection between IS101 and your future career, Makell!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are learning the different views and the "flag" feature in Microsoft Outlook :-)
Welcome to IS101-3003, Spring 2026 ^_^
Makell, I was just thinking, being a radiologic technologist means you are going to deal with so many complex programs and machines. I have a friend who works in radiology, and when I saw his workstation, I honestly did not understand what was happening anymore. He was clicking different buttons, enlarging images, rotating them, adjusting contrast, and identifying specific body parts in seconds. There are MRIs, CT scans, CAT scans, and so many other types of equipment that all require different systems and software. It made me realize how technical that field really is. That is why I respect that you are choosing this path, because it is not simple at all. You will have to be comfortable with both the medical side and the technology side at the same time. IS101 might seem basic now, but I can see how building strong computer skills will actually prepare you for that kind of environment.
ReplyDeleteHi Makell, nice to meet you. I think it’s great that you already have clear goals with becoming a radiologic technologist. Lastly, I love liminal spaces, I would love to see your drawings if you post them online or if you ever plan to.
ReplyDeleteHi Makell, I think IS101 will definitely help you in your path to becoming a Radiologic Technologist. I didn't know anything about the uses of outlook until this class, emails were just emails to me. Exercising and drawing are hobbies I enjoy as well. I usually exercise outside with someone else, it's a little boring for me otherwise. Liminal spaces are so interesting, the feeling you can get while looking at photos and drawings of them is very unique.

Are you the type of person when the scanning is about to initiate you run so that radiations would not get you? Cause believe me I would be that type. Working out at home is such a good thing to have, I always wanted to have my own equipment to have my own time and not driving to the gym every time. More power to your journey and hopefully you don't fall into the backrooms.
